Sabu was a Triple crown champion in ECW winning all the titles that the company had, the ECW Television Title, The ECW World Tag Team Championship (twice with Rob Van Dam) and of cause the ECW World Championship, which he also won twice, so it could be said he was a rather legendary figure in the world of wrestling and an Icon in ECW.But why do I think Sabu is a man that revolutionized (thank god for spell check) the world of wrestling, well just looking at the man you can see the amount of scars on his body, he is a wrestler who took the word "Extreme" to a whole new level, lil girls who think Jeff Hardy is extreme with his Dulex paint on his head, should watch a few match’s that Sabu has been in. Barb Wire matches, Stair way to hell matches, dueling cane matches and god knows what else he did in Japan as It wouldn’t surprise me if he ran around with C4 explosives trying to blow him self up so he could get a better dive onto a table. The man they call Sabu invented putting people threw tables for fun! A truly lovely man.Two of the sickest matches I have ever seen or more than likely will ever see are from ECW and funny enough both feature Sabu in matches that had barb wire. The first one I saw was when Sabu won his second ECW world title when he beat the legendary Terry Funk at Born to be Wired in 1997.
During the match Sabu tore open his bicep muscle in his arm when he jumped from a chair and into a ring post covered in barb wire, with blood pouring from his arm, his Manger Bill Alfonso gave him some white duck tape it seemed so he could tape up his wound, god knows why Funk went after Sabu as he was half way threw taping his arm up and carried on with the match, while Sabu still was taping his arm! The word nut job springs to mind. The brutal match ended when Sabu wrapped himself in barb wire and did his legendary Arabian leg drop onto Terry Funk threw a table.

Ewww I thought after watching that match, and the man Sabu earned my respect (which isn’t hard to be honest but hey) and I thought I’d never see a more nasty blood filled match than that. That was until I saw Sandman Vs Sabu in a Stairway to hell match.

Probably the most disturbing thing that ive ever seen in wrestling was when Sabu went diving off the Ring apron and smashed his jaw onto a metal guard rail, soon after blood started to pour from Sabu’s mouth and as the Mighty Joey Styles said it was quite obvious that Sabu had broken his Jaw. In a normal sane world the match would be stopped and in the brain of any normal human being they would quit and forfeit the match. Not Sabu though. While Sandman was busy strutting his stuff around the ring Bill Alfonso and Sabu started to Tape up his jaw holding it in place! Ewww I thought! Put me right off my pot noodle for a few minutes.

Sabu then went on to finish the match and lost it by being hit in the face by a nasty cane shot from the sandman. What that must of felt like I have no idea! But if any women has a moan at me again saying; "oh you having felt real pain! You should try child birth!" I will just show them this DVD of Sabu and say "Child birth is nothing my dear! Try breaking yer Jaw then having some drunk mad man twat you with a cane in the jaw!" Tut! Women! Always whining. Like Arsenal fans. I was always like the moment in ECW when all the lights would go out then after a few seconds they would pop back on, and in the center of the ring would be the Madman Sabu pointing to the sky in the ring. Lovely moments!

Even though Sabu, real name Terry Brunk (not very Arabian) was in all 3 of the big name wrestling federations in the USA (WWF, WCW & ECW) In WCW he was too Extreme in the WWF he was, well to be honest I never knew he was in the WWF but apparently he was, in ECW he got legendary status and became an icon of the wrestling world, he was flying threw tables while the Hardy Boyz where still eating coco pops getting ready to go to school. This man Sabu was the man that revolutionized the word extreme!! Even before Matt and Jeff could spell it! (Dunno why I’m having a go at the Hardyz as I’m big fans! But there you go) Ok he maybe too extreme for WWE but hey! What would bring back ratings? Boring 20 minute promos or a man jumping threw tables and pointing too the Sky! Ok, maybe I didn’t do a good job of selling my point there! But if you have seen Sabu, you will know what I mean.Sabu is a man that will always be remembered in the world of wrestling, possibly the most hardcore wrestler the wrestling world has ever seen, so I will raise a bottle of Smirnoff Ice to the Homicidal, Suicidal & Genocidal! (What does that mean?) Man they simply call SABU!
